Effective July 25, 2026
Murmr is built so your voice never leaves your phone. By default, all of your data — recordings, transcripts, summaries, action items, and tags — lives entirely on your device. Recording, transcription, and the AI summaries all run on-device. We have no server, no accounts, and we collect none of your data. This policy explains that in plain terms.
Everything Murmr creates — your audio recordings, transcripts, AI summaries, action items, tags, and folders — is created and stored entirely on your device. Transcription uses Apple's on-device Speech framework and the summaries use Apple's on-device Foundation Models. None of this audio or text is ever sent to us, and we have no servers that could receive it.
Murmr contains no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no third-party SDKs that phone home. We do not create a profile of you, and there is nothing for us to sell or share, because we never receive your information in the first place.
Because your notes are stored on your device, they are automatically included in your iPhone's standard iCloud Backup (if you have it enabled). If you lose your phone or set up a new one, restoring from that backup brings your Murmr notes back. You can also export a full backup of your notes and audio at any time from Settings and save it wherever you like (for example, Files or iCloud Drive). These backups go to your own Apple storage — never to us.
You can turn on iCloud Sync to keep your notes up to date across your own devices. Sync runs through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. It is identity-free: Murmr has no account system and cannot see your synced data — it stays within your personal iCloud. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. If you leave sync off, nothing is uploaded for syncing and your data simply stays on the device.
Murmr asks for the Microphone (to record) and Speech Recognition (to transcribe on-device). It may ask for Reminders access only when you choose to turn an action item into a reminder. These are used solely for the feature you invoked.
Murmr Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Payment, billing, and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of that information is described in Apple's privacy policy.
You can delete any note at any time, export notes as text, Markdown, or PDF, and remove everything by deleting the app. Optionally, you can lock the app behind Face ID.
Murmr is not directed to children under the age required by your local law to consent to data processing, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. (Because we collect nothing, this is inherently the case.)
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this policy and the date above. Material changes will be reflected in an app update.
